The road to Buda Castle
Buda city on the castle hill (Várhegy) on the banks of the Danube, is the most popular tourist attraction in Budapest and is also inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. He built it Sigismund of Luxembourg, increased Matthias Corvinus (in our folk tales he appears as King Matjaž), Maria Theresa it gave it a baroque appearance, and after a fire in 1848 it was rebuilt between 1894 and 1906. Today it is National Gallery with works by Hungarian painters and sculptors. You can walk to the castle hill or take the old road train. Buda Fortress will reward you with a short climb the most beautiful sightseeing to a place along the Danube.
