After the first simulations with the new car for the 2022 season, he is the team driver AlphaTauri, Pierre Gasly, concerned about poor visibility of the front wheels. Because aerodynamic elements along the wheels, they are less visible, and the latter consequently makes it difficult to turn precisely into corners.
"Larger wheels and front wheel trims, which I don't really like, will worsen visibility going forward," predicts gasly, but at the same time he admits that all racers will "Had to get used to" to such a solution.
gasly otherwise describes the problem as follows: “The aerodynamic elements completely obscure the view of the part between the chassis and the wheel suspension, making it significantly harder to hit the right cornering and cornering point. I think we will have to look for other braking reference points next season than before. ”
The second point is above gasly anything but enthusiastic is the fact that the driver, due to the aerodynamic element, does not see exactly whether his wheels are blocked or not. “If you have a look at the entire tire, you can see a slower rotation when you brake. Currently, the car in the simulator is constantly modified for the needs of individual tests. “Overall, we are pleased with what we have done so far. However, we do not have a reference point. What the boys are now discovering comes solely from development. We know we are improving, but we will not know how good we are until Barcelona, ” concludes Pierre Gasly.
