Mazda North American Operations has officially announced that the fully electric model MX-30 from the model year 2023 will no longer be offered in the US market. But let's remember that she was Mazda MX-30 only available in California and in very limited numbers.
Nevertheless, the Japanese company in two years (as of September 2021, when the first units appeared in the sales statistics) sold only 571 units.
Mazda MX-30 US detailed sales:
– 2021 (September-December): 181
- eleven
– 2023 (January-June): 66
Mazda MX-30 was barely competitive as its MSRP was 34.110 USD (plus delivery charges), total range by EPA but it was only 100 million (161 km). In a very short and concise press release Mazda now states that it intends its current efforts to electrify v USA focus on hybrid and plug-in hybrid models"Our current electrification efforts in the US are focused on large PHEV platforms such as the CX-90 PHEV, which will debut in 2024, and the soon-to-be CX-70 PHEV, as well as the introduction of the CX-50 hybrid model to our meeting the specific needs of the US market." Mazda CX-90 PHEV has an all-electric range of up to 42 km, total range 788 km and starting price 47.445 USD. We assume it will be along with other upcoming models PHEV and HEV represented a pre-field for Mazda's electrification, until the next generation of BEVs will hit the market around the year 2028-2030.
It will be very interesting to see what the future holds Mazda MX-30 in Europe, where the company introduced an additional version of the model in January: Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV. Serial hybrid s 17,8 kilowatts battery and Wankle engines as a range extender. Even in Germany, the all-electric model is doing quite poorly: years 2022 were able to sell 1.815 copies.
