They were last year two sports cars got a kind of off-road version: Porsche 911 Dakar in Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato. However, as far as we know, no one has yet changed the cult Nissan's R32 GT-R into an off-road vehicle... until now.
YouTuber and Adam LZ inspired by the 911 Dakar and the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato, produced the first "Safari GTR” in history. Adam started his work with to the R32 GT-R donor car minus the engine he bought for $ 10.000 and partially restored in a workshop in Connecticut. He quickly installed a modified six-cylinder RB26 from one of his other R32 projects, equipped with 2nd generation turbocharger, a new intercooler and an optimized controller, with which the Safari GTR on wheels achieved incredible 500 BAM.
GT-R then got customized suspension with long spring travel and almost 27 cm distance from the ground, which is almost twice as much as the standard one model R32 and more than enough to overcome unusual paths. 17-inch Rays wheels they are shod in tires Nitto Nomad Grappler (215/65 R17), fenders W and additionally emphasize the off-road aesthetics. Selection system four-wheel drive it provides extra traction on unpaved roads, and the front axle can also be switched off if drifting is required.
The front part has separately powder coated bumper s 6-inch LED fog lights, and the roof is equipped with powder-coated Nismo roof racks and 4-inch fog lights. Because Nissan it was not equipped with a roof rack from the factory, they had to Adam and his team to install the trunk cut directly into the roof. The bodywork is painted in cold olive green, and the interior is equipped with a complete cage, special seats and camouflaged four-point safety belts.
Construction lasted less than three weeks, and the entire project was documented in a series of videos on the channel YouTube. However, he has even bigger plans for the project – R32 namely, it should get even more suspension travel, better brakes and probably also the ability to drive in deeper puddles.
