The Toyota 4Runner will feature a sliding rear window, as befitting

Exactly one week after it is Toyota presented the first trailer of the new model 4runner, the automaker reveals a little more about the upcoming truck. In the image and video released today, Toyota showed off the model's pop-up rear window 4runner, which is one of the characteristic features of an SUV. The automaker also confirmed the debut of the 4Runner model next Tuesday, April 9.

The sixth generation of the 4Runner model after 15 years of sales replaces the predecessor. That's a long time in automotive terms, but the 4Runner has seen a sales boom in the U.S. that began in 2014 and peaked in 2021. Even last year's sales 109.951 vehicles in the US, which was down from the 2021 peak of 144.469 units, outpacing sales of the first model year. This is almost unheard of in the automotive industry.

Just like new Land Cruiser, Tacoma, Tundra, Sequoia and Lexus models GX in LX the sixth generation of 4Runner will also rely on Toyota TGNA-F platform. As before, it will have a body on frame and should be placed under the new Toyota off-road vehicle range Land Cruiser.

We assume you will 4runner shared powertrains with the new pickup Tacoma. That means a 2,4-liter turbo four-cylinder as the base, but a hybrid powertrain may be available in the future. In the base Tacoma, this engine has 220 horsepower, but in most other models, its output increases to 278 horsepower. Hybrid powertrain i-Force Max it offers 326 hp from the same engine combined with an electric motor.

You can count on it being new 4runner available in a variety of trims, from the base SR5 to the luxurious Limited and off-road models like the TRD Pro. Like all of Toyota's latest SUVs, the 4Runner will get a thoroughly updated interior and all the technology expected of a modern car.
