VERSTAPPEN grateful to the team: “Stop at the right time”

For a long time it seemed that Max Verstappen would not be able to get on the podium, but thanks to the rain he managed to do so and in the end he was looking forward to second place.

Understandably, he was a team racer Red Bull after the race immensely happy with this result with which he really is maximally mitigate the damage due to a change of engine and consequently a penalty that put him completely at the front before the race.

"It was very difficult at that moment to call the pits to change tires, but it was too slippery soon after,”He said in an introductory reaction Verstappen. But the moment couldn’t have been better. “We decided to change the tires at the right time, because if we went round later, the intermediates could be destroyed in the last sector."

Verstappen continues: “Getting from last to second place is very good. The race itself was not easy because it was hard to overtake. Once stuck, you can damage your tires. The rain helped us make the final jump." Lewis Hamilton scored seven points more and regained the lead in the championship. But the damage was very small. “With the penalty we received, we finished in second place behind Lewis and that’s certainly not a bad result. When I woke up in the morning, I didn’t expect this result."
