The German car of 2023 is the VW ID. Buzz

A jury of renowned motoring journalists made the selection VW ID. buzz for "German Car of the Year" 2023. The all-electric model was able to establish itself against competing cars in all classes, including Opel Astra in Range Rover.

The CEO accepted the award Thomas Schafer in the high-rise building of the Volkswagen brand v Wolfsburg and at the same time said: "We are very happy that our ID. Buzz received the award for German Car of the Year – a true sign of the quality of German automotive journalists. A big success for Volkswagen commercial and passenger vehicles. We already have more than 20.000 ID orders. A buzz that is incredibly popular with people. For us, this is a great motivation to further accelerate our e-mobility offensive. By 2026, we will launch another ten completely new electric models."  

CEO Thomas Schäfer accepted the award at the Group's headquarters in Wolfsburg.

VW ID. Buzz Pro in id. Buzz Cargo have rear-wheel drive with 150 kW and a large battery with 77 kWh, which we know from others MEB models. VW states the range 421 kilometers for Pro, and Cargo can 424 kilometers. Charges up to 170 kW.

For the fifth time in a row, an electric car has placed itself ahead of its conventional counterparts in Germany.

V ID. Buzz is entered through the double sliding doors. The second row of seats can be moved longitudinally behind 15 centimeters and asymmetrical falls. The trunk has a normal volume 1.121 liters, and with the rear seats folded and cargo loaded up to the roof, the volume increases to 2.205 liters. Prices start at 64.581 euros for ID. Buzz Pro, and the Cargo version costs good 10.000 euros less.

The winning vehicle was chosen from among the five winners of individual classes: Opel Astra (compact – up to 30.000 euros), Genesis GV60 (premium – up to 60.000 euros), Land rover range rover (luxury - more than 60.000 euros), VW ID. buzz (New Energy – alternative drives) and Ferrari 296 (Performance).

The winners individual classes was chosen by the jury among all relevant vehicles when it appeared on the German market from the end of 2021. With VW ID. buzz for the fifth time, it placed ahead of models with a conventional drive electric car. It won the German Car of the Year 2019 award Jaguar I-Pace, in 2020 Porsche Taycan, in 2021 it was Honda and, and last year Hyundai ioniq 5.
